Presentation of a book chapter at the 8th Croatian Construction Forum 2025

On 28 November 2025, in Zagreb, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb, the Croatian Construction Forum 2025 was held, a scientific-professional event that brings together experts from the fields of civil engineering, architecture, and related engineering disciplines with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experiences on current challenges in the built environment. The forum was organised by the Croatian Association of Civil Engineers (HSGI) and served as a platform for discussing issues in the construction sector, presenting sustainable and innovative projects, and promoting education and innovation in the construction industry.

As part of the scientific-professional program, Josip Radić, a PhD student at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in Osijek, participated with a presentation titled “Intelligent Methods and Experimental Approaches in the Assessment of Building, Element, and Material Behaviour – Experiences from the IM4StEM Project.” The presentation was based on research conducted within the framework of the international IM4StEM project, led by Professor Marijana Hadzima-Nyarko and collaborators.

The presentation showcased contemporary approaches to assessing the behaviour of structures, elements, and materials, integrating advanced analytical tools, artificial intelligence, and experimental research. Special emphasis was placed on the application of intelligent methods in analysing the behaviour of structures under seismic loads, as well as on the development of digital databases and algorithms that contribute to risk reduction and the enhancement of resilience in the built environment.

Within the forum, a chapter was also published in the proceedings titled “Intelligent Methods and Experimental Approaches in the Assessment of Building, Element, and Material Behaviour – Experiences from the IM4StEM Project,” authored by Prof. dr. sc. Marijana Hadzima-Nyarko, Prof. dr. sc. Zlata Dolaček-Alduk, Josip Radić, Prof. dr. sc. Karlo Emmanuel Nyarko, and Prof. dr. sc. Silva Lozančić, in which all activities carried out since the project’s inception were systematically presented.

Participation in the Croatian Construction Forum 2025 enabled active engagement in professional discussions on current topics such as the renovation, resilience, and modernisation of buildings, the exchange of experiences with representatives of academia and industry, and increased visibility of the research and project activities of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in Osijek within the national professional community. The forum also included awards for the best master’s and doctoral theses and encouraged collaboration between academia and industry.
