As part of the three-year Erasmus+ project Strategic Partnerships in Higher Education – Smart Intelligent for Structures, Elements and Materials (acronym: IM4StEM), data collection for buildings for second stage in Bitlis was carried out in the period from 09 October 2024 – 14 October 2024. With the participation of students from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Civil Engineering, Bitlis Eren University, the dynamic characteristics of the existing building stock in the city centre were collected. At least 10 students were involved in this data collection on buildings, which was carried out under the supervision of one professor from Bitlis Eren University, Prof Ercan Işık, Ph.D. At this stage of the project, the majority of the buildings collected are reinforced concrete structures. The necessary measurement and building data for a total of 110 buildings were collected from the field and recorded in the database after the necessary checks in the office environment. Building selections were generally made from neighbourhoods in the city that were in the process of new urbanization. In Bitlis City, which is located in a region with high seismic risk, the urban building stock has started to be renewed after the 2011 Van earthquake and this renewal continues. Thus, by constructing earthquake resistant structures, it was taken into consideration to prevent structural damage in a possible earthquake. Data entries have been completed for a total of 210 buildings, including the 100 buildings considered in the first phase of the project.
