The State Secretary at the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and State Property, Tonči Glavinić, mag. ing. aedif., visited the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture Osijek on 25 May 2026 as part of a professional visit organised at the initiative of Professor Zlata Dolaček-Alduk. During the visit, students were introduced to the study programme in Organisation, Technology and Construction Management, with particular emphasis on contemporary trends in construction practice, digitalisation, and sustainable project management.
As part of the visit, the coordinator of the Erasmus+ KA2 – Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education programme, Professor Marijana Hadzima-Nyarko, presented the project Intelligent Methods for Structures, Elements and Materials (IM4StEM) and its key results. Special focus was given to the development and application of a building database encompassing structural characteristics, enabling more precise assessment of seismic vulnerability.
The project also addresses sustainability challenges in the construction sector, emphasising the reduction of construction waste generation, improvement of waste management systems, and exploration of opportunities for the reuse and recycling of materials in contemporary construction.
The IM4StEM project demonstrates how scientific research can be successfully linked to practical solutions and contemporary engineering challenges.
