Student conference of the University of Nyíregyháza

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ project IM4STEM – Intelligent Methods for Structures, Elements and Materials, students enrolled in the course Seismic Risk from the Graduate Programme in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering track) at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture Osijek participated in data collection, analysis, and presentation of building information, using a digital application developed within the IM4STEM project.

As part of their seminar assignments, students collected data on buildings within a selected urban area and applied empirical, analytical, and hybrid methods for seismic vulnerability assessment, directly linking theoretical knowledge with real engineering challenges.

From November 25 to 27, within the CEEPUS network “Research and Education of Environmental Risks”, a short-term excursion entitled “Seismic and Environmental Resilience – Connecting Theory and Real Challenges”was organised at the University of Nyíregyháza, Hungary.

The programme involved 10 students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture Osijek, supervised by Professor Marijana Hadzima-Nyarko and PhD student Josip Radić, as well as two students from the Technical University “Mihajlo Pupin” in Zrenjanin, guided by Professor Eleonora Desnica and Associated Professor Ivan Palinkaš, giving the event a strong international dimension.

Students participated in a student conference organised by the University of Nyíregyháza, within which a Special Session on Civil Engineering and Architecture was held in English. Students presented and discussed the results of their seminar research. The presentations focused on seismic vulnerability assessment of buildings within a selected urban block in the city of Osijek, based on data collected through the IM4STEM project.

Participation in this activity provided students with valuable international experience, enhanced their practical skills in seismic and environmental resilience of the built environment, and contributed to the dissemination and visibility of the IM4STEM project.
